All in a book of barely 200 pages. Marilynne Robinson is not a content creator, she is an author—curator of words, steward of images, doula of ideas. That is the kind of writing I want to read, and the kind I aspire to write.
Oh my goodness you are reading my mind. You articulated so well something I am grappling with. The other day I was reading my Bible and thinking, "What a great line! I am going to write a post about that." But then I paused and asked, "What is happening to me? Why am I experiencing everything through the lens of a future writing project?" I LOVE writing and reading here and interacting with other writers, but I don't want it to become my filter for living.
That resonates sooo much with me Abigail — so grateful not to be alone in that feeling, and I suspect lots of writers/artists are in the same boat as us too. Here’s to a summer of paying attention for attention’s sake, and knowing which words to share and which to hold close 🫶

Marilynne Robinson’s writing is an excellent north star! 💫
